MY EXPERIENCE
I'm becoming an engineer because I want to create things.
I'm becoming an engineer because I want to create things.
Promoted to software lead in September 2022, I am maximizing this amazing opportunity to work on a university robotics team. My goal is to help make UBC Rover a globaly recognized robotics team.
4 propeller blades, 1 stepper motor, 2 IR sensors and an accelerometer. The robot's orientation acts as a killswitch for the blades.
My latest project, a work in progress. Now, its able to make HTTP and NTP requests to display the time, and to communicate with OpenAI's API. It can also communicate over bluetooth to access my phones sensors (IMU, sound sensor, GNSS data). I also have made a brightness and a sleep function.
As a grade 10 project, I got in contact with a UBC student on coop and he taught me much about the engineering process. I also gained access to UBC tools under his supervision, granting me a special opportunity to explore robotics. I'm most proud about integrating facial tracking into my robot. This project was done before I learned ROS.
For my capstone this year, I am leading the software development of an autonomus battle bot with four of my peers. The project is in its early stages, and I will update this post as we progress.
I was tired of carrying my room key around, and I thought my door was too boring. Now, I only need to carry a battery and an RC controller instead of a key...
